Adopt Caruso

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 8 years

neutered and microchipped: yes desired housing arrangement: leash walk, preferably as a single cat Caruso is an approximately 8-year-old tomcat with a particularly calm and balanced nature. He belongs to the cats who create an immediately pleasant atmosphere with their laid-back demeanor. Hectic is not his thing – Caruso prefers the quiet moments. He is friendly towards people and enjoys affectionate cuddles without being pushy. Caruso longs for a permanent home where he can relax and simply belong. He would be a wonderful companion for people who value a quiet, gentle tomcat by their side. We have noticed that Caruso does not necessarily need other cats around him. He can also be rehomed as a single cat. After an adjustment period, Caruso should be allowed leash walks again so he can make his small discovery tours outside. Those who wish to meet Caruso please arrange a visit with us in advance. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Caruso

What life with Caruso looks like

Caruso is a medium-sized adult european shorthair cat waiting at Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. in St. Ingbert.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caruso, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caruso?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caruso on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caruso if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caruso already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caruso isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Verein der Katzenfreunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caruso and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
