Beau

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Beautiful Beau is a happy dog who is good with everyone. Very interactive with humans, incredibly good with other dogs and also good with cats. Because of his kindness he would fit very well in a family that is looking for a second dog or a family that has a cat. What Beau needs in return, apart from love and care, of course, is to notice his disability. Beau was hit by a car as a puppy and had a broken hind leg. As if that wasn't enough bad luck, he wasn't taken to the vet or the shelter. When we rescued Beau, the bones had already grown together and the vet couldn't operate. Poor Beau has to live with his disability for all his life. So, what his future family needs to know is that Beau cannot go on long walks. He does enjoy short walks. Walking is difficult for him, so a home where he needs to climb stairs to get inside, is not the right home for Beau. We think he is a gorgeous fellow with his light coat. And have you seen his smile? He's a happy dog and will definitely bring you joy.

About Beau

What life with Beau looks like

Beau is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Gouves Shelter in Heraklion.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Beau, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Beau?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gouves Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Beau on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Beau if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gouves Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Beau already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Beau isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gouves Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Beau and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
