Adopt Wilma

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Vivid, uncertain, territorial. In February we found Wilma. We were informed about a dog with a injured leg, in poor general condition, partially without fur, underweight, attacked by other packs because of her weakness. Such is street life - weakness can be a death sentence. Wilma found a spot in our quarantine, all Mediterranean diseases were positive. No wonder she was so exhausted, plus the leg, on which the paw was just hanging and could not be used. The Mediterranean diseases were treated, what remains is leishmaniasis, which she can live with well. Yesterday was Wilma's big surgery day, because the paw was operated on by a specialist. The goal was for Wilma to be able to use the paw again, however it would remain stiff. Today we were able to pick the girl up from the clinic and received great news: an exhausting, four-hour-long operation made it possible that Wilma will also be able to use the joint again. We are very happy. Wilma's life can now begin, all that is missing is a family that accepts her as she is: a very loving, friendly female dog with a damaged leg and leishmaniasis (information about this on our homepage). The operation for Wilma cost 500 euros, it was worth it. We would be very happy about support with a monthly sponsorship of Wilma. They are all vaccinated, microchipped and have an EU passport. They are checked for Mediterranean diseases according to their age. See information on our homepage. Every dog placed makes room for one of those dogs who live their life hungry and emaciated.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Wilma

What life with Wilma looks like

Wilma is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Frequently asked

Adopting Wilma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wilma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wilma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wilma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wilma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wilma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wilma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
