Belle

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Adult · 8 years

Meet Belle 🩶 Beautiful Belle is a stunning grey, long-haired girl who is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can settle at her own pace with someone who will respect her boundaries. Belle can find new environments quite overwhelming, and when she feels overstimulated or unsure, she may hiss or tell you that she needs some space. This isn’t her being unfriendly — she simply needs time to feel safe and learn that she can trust you. Once she begins to relax, Belle is already showing signs that she does want affection and companionship. She may brush gently against your legs, meow at the door to let you know she’s there, and show curiosity about what you’re doing. Belle will need a home where her humans understand that affection has to be on her terms. She needs someone who will allow her to approach when she feels ready, rather than expecting instant cuddles or interaction. With patience, consistency and plenty of time, we hope Belle will become much more confident and comfortable. This pet has historic medical concerns, namely an episode of cystitis in 2020, that Has been used to visiting dogs before and mainly ignored them so should be okay to live with a cat friendly dog. Belle will be happiest as the only cat in the home. Okay to live with small pets which are securely housed. Belle can get overstimulated easily and hiss, as well as has a history of not getting along well with children in the home, so currently Belle is looking for a home with adults only to respect her boundaries. Belle will need both indoor and outdoor access in her new home, ideally in a low traffic area with a secure garden for her to get used to the outdoors safely as she has never been outside.

About Belle

What life with Belle looks like

Belle is a small adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Wood Green in London.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Belle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Belle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Wood Green handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Belle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Belle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Wood Green will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Belle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Belle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Wood Green early rather than rehoming privately; they know Belle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
