Adopt Bellissima

Female

Gnadenplatz for Bellissima sought!!! Bellissima should be euthanized, as a "severe pulmonary stenosis" (constriction of the outflow tract from the right heart chamber to the pulmonary artery) was diagnosed via heart ultrasound. Additionally, the sweet dog tested positive for heartworms. The vet saw it differently and contacted our Hungarian partner animal shelter, who then took her in. Yes, the charming female dog is really sick; she currently needs a lot of medication that must be affordable. It is also not clear how many days, months, or years she has left on this earth… The diagnosis is bad, the risk of heart rhythm disturbances and sudden cardiac death is high. However, fact is that she is currently doing well on her medication. Bellissima is super loving and people-friendly. She is very cuddly and clingy. Due to her illness, it can lead to oxygen deprivation, so no long walks on hot days and no mountain hikes should be undertaken with her. She should also never be taken jogging or cycling. However, against quiet joint walks, there is nothing to object to. Currently, Bellissima receives heart tablets (Cardisure 10 mg, 2 x daily ½ tablet); water tablets (Fortiron, 2 x daily ½ tablet), to strengthen the heart and circulatory system (Panangin, 1 x ½ tablet daily), to lower blood pressure (Sildenafil, 100 mg, 2 x daily ½ tablet). There is a very expensive procedure that could potentially save Bellissima's life. However, this is carried out in a clinic in Munich. First, the heartworms need to be killed. The treatment with the "slow kill method," which is the only one that can be used for her, lasts 1 ½ years. The medications for this, we would provide from the association. Whether the heart operation can be performed at all, is unfortunately also not certain. If the possibility of a heart operation exists, we as an association would try to contribute to it with a donation appeal. Bellissima is a very loving and quiet female dog. She has a very peaceful and gentle nature. She no longer chews anything, destroys nothing, and simply wants her future owner to spoil her in peace. She enjoys every pat and is the perfect companion for a peaceful everyday life. We wish so much for her that she does not have to spend the rest of her life in a cage at the animal shelter and that a shelter worker finds her lifeless there in the morning. Bellissima deserves something better. A person by her side who loves and accompanies her until the end of her life. Maybe "YOU" are this person? Bellissima could leave with us for Berlin around mid-July 26. We do not want to risk an official transport, as we do not know if her enlarged heart can still withstand such strain. Brief info: Name: Bellissima Breed: this breed Gender: female unneutered Age: 20.01.20 shoulder height: ca.

About Bellissima

What life with Bellissima looks like

Bellissima is a adult dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bellissima, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bellissima?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bellissima on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bellissima if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bellissima already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bellissima isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bellissima and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
