Adopt Nozi

German Shepherd · Male · Senior · 10 years

Urgent Mercy for an Old German Shepherd Needed! The old German Shepherd male dog Nozi had a sad life so far. For his first 10 years, he spent all his time in a yard. He was never taken for a walk, never spoken to with love, or cuddled. Then his owner wanted to put him to sleep. Thanks to the vet, Nozi first came to our Hungarian partner shelter. Despite his age, he was adopted just over a year later. Unfortunately, love didn't last a lifetime. Now, after 2 years, he's back, completely neglected. Some dogs just have a lot of bad luck in life. But Nozi is a generally lovable dog who longs for love. He is very people-friendly, kind, intelligent, and attentive. He begs for affection and cuddles. Sometimes he can be a bit overexcited and jumps up at the caregivers in joy, demanding attention. He calms down quickly, though. Unfortunately, Nozi can hardly see anymore. He suffers from "Overreiter Syndrome," a typical German Shepherd disease. To maintain his remaining vision, he must be treated with Optimmune eye drops daily until the end of his life. Nozi gets along well with other dogs and even with cats at the animal shelter. We are aware that it is almost impossible to find a new home for Nozi. Who would want to take in an old, sick, large animal that costs money? But we still want to try. Our heartfelt wish is that this always-lovable fellow finds a home where he is truly loved, cared for, and taken on pleasant walks in the greenery. Where he can be a dog, a cozy spot by his people's side, and get cuddles. He shouldn't have to lie on a concrete floor with some straw until his last day. Nozi will thank him with his love and loyalty. The sweet Nózi is, of course, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and has been vet-checked. She also has an EU pet passport. The handover could take place on June 27, 2026, in Berlin, or alternatively in the Stuttgart area, should someone fall in love with her and give her a – forever home –! Brief Info: Name: Nozi Breed: German Shepherd Gender: male dog neutered Age: 13.04.2013 Shoulder Height: ca.

About Nozi

What life with Nozi looks like

Nozi is a large senior german shepherd dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nozi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nozi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nozi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nozi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nozi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nozi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nozi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
