Benji 1

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

I have already experienced what it feels like to be abandoned and left alone. I don't want to have to wait any longer. I want to finally arrive. Have my own bed. People I can trust. And lots of love. ❤️🏡 I am a good boy and I promise: If you give me your heart and your patience, I will give you my whole heart. 🐾❤️ I am a friendly, gentle and cuddly male. With people I know, I enjoy every caress and show what a dear boy I am. 🥰 I also get along well with other dogs. Two females live on the property with whom I get along very well. I also know cats and am generally compatible with them. However, if a cat gets scared and runs away, I sometimes run after it - for me it just looks like a great game. 😅 That's why it would be nice if my future cat friends are confident and I am shown how to behave towards them. I am an incredibly clean dog. 🥹 When I am in my enclosure, I hold back until I can go outside. There I do my business on my walk. Outdoors I am sometimes a bit cautious and anxious around strangers. I have had bad experiences on the street in my time. That's why I need people who have patience with me and give me the time to build trust. ❤️ Because when I know someone and trust them, I am just sweet, clingy and cuddly. 🥰 And you know what? A little girl was allowed to stroke me once - even though I run away from some people. Maybe I just need someone to show me patiently that people can also mean love, security and safety. 🙏 About a year ago I was simply abandoned. I had no home and had no idea what would happen to me. 😔💔 Some neighbors even wanted to call the municipal animal shelter. Luckily, a kind person took me onto his property and brought me to safety for the time being.

About Benji 1

What life with Benji 1 looks like

Benji 1 is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. in Waakirchen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benji 1, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benji 1?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benji 1 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benji 1 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benji 1 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benji 1 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benji 1 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
