adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Benji has found his home! His story: The beautiful Benji is on the lookout for his people! The handsome young male dog, who is now in puberty and fully grown, was born on the streets with his siblings. His mother, Frozen, had a owner, but all of them were brought to safety by Dorel. Now, almost all members of the family have left, leaving only Benji and his brother, Honey, behind. While his mother, Frozen, has already embarked on her journey to happiness, Benji is still waiting for his happy ending. Frozen, a mixed breed of Cane-Corso with a height of 55 cm, not only passed on her elegant appearance but also a wonderful character to Benji. Benji is a friendly, curious fellow who loves people and gets along well with other dogs. Whether he could also befriend cats, we do not yet know. Benji has left his babyhood behind, is now in the midst of puberty, and is exploring the world. He needs people who can give him security and orientation and are ready to guide him with love and consistency. A visit to a positively working dog training class would be ideal for Benji to continue learning, building trust, and strengthening his bond with his people. Anyone who meets Benji falls in love immediately with his open and outgoing nature. Benji is now about 60 cm tall, weighs between approximately 35 and 40 kg, and not only impresses with his imposing appearance but also with his cute nature. He is fully compatible with other dogs and has a wonderful, friendly demeanor that cheers everyone around him up. Unfortunately, he has been waiting almost a year in the shelter for his family to find him. Like all young dogs, Benji sometimes gets his hormones a bit mixed up – that is completely normal. Puberty is a phase where learned behaviors are suddenly "forgotten," and ears sometimes go on a walk. With patience, humor, and positive training, this time will be successfully navigated. And then, nothing stands in the way of a wonderful human-dog relationship! Benji loves being out and about, discovering new things, and simply being a dog. At the same time, he will enjoy relaxing with you after an exciting day and getting cuddles. His people should give him time to learn the dog 1×1 at his own pace and not rush him. Are you ready to bring Benji into your life and give him a loving home?. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 25.01.2025

About Benji

What life with Benji looks like

Benji is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Benji, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Benji?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Benji on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Benji if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Benji already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Benji isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Benji and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
