adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Our dream dog Bennett, the favorite of all caretakers, has been waiting since puppyhood for his big chance. Although Bennett was one of the most loved dogs in the shelter, it has unfortunately taken so long for him to travel due to his breed mix. He is believed to be an American Staffordshire Terrier mix. This means that he falls into category 1 on the so-called Rasseliste in Germany, and it is not allowed for us to send him back to Germany. However, he can be rehomed to Sweden, Belgium, or some cantons in Switzerland. Bennett can currently be met in 4934 Madiswi, Switzerland. He has already learned a lot and loves his new life of freedom. Bennett has a sweet facial marking and beautiful caramel-colored fur. He is totally curious and open-minded, about 3 years old and about 55 cm tall with a great athletic build. He is very people-oriented, friendly, clingy, and gets along well with all fellow animals. AmStaffs are considered strong-willed dogs with a high energy drive and thus want to be both physically and mentally challenged. They seek people who can lead them with love, but also consistency and sovereignty. AmStaffs have a playful nature and are highly intelligent, making them eager to learn. They are suitable for many different roles, such as in dog sports, working areas, or as companion dogs. AmStaffs are very sensitive dogs and are better suited for dog-experienced owners who can meet the physical and psychological needs of their four-legged friend and do them justice. Our beautiful Bennett is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and already has his own EU pet passport. Many thanks to Vicky M.! You have given Bennett his name. A big thank you also goes to Katja K. and Laura J. V.-L., who both took on a monthly sponsorship for Bennett. We also thank Cecilia J. M. and Friederike R., who also took on a monthly sponsorship for Bennett. As of: 08.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Bennett

What life with Bennett looks like

Bennett is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bennett, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bennett?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bennett on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bennett if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bennett already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bennett isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bennett and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
