Berd

Male · Senior · 13 years

What is Berd? He is a lovely dog with many ... little snouts 😀 He is a bit shy, especially when he doesn't know someone. Then he slightly hesitates during walks, likes to sniff and explore the area. He knows what he wants. Berd has his favorite area for walks and definitely pulls when we go out through the gate, namely he likes to circle around the parking lot, between cars and sniff as long as possible. Who knows, maybe the car reminds him of something good and he's looking for the right one that will take him home… He is affectionate and likes pets. The dog, during the walk, often leads us to the pavilion in the park, where we spend time petting him and treating him to snacks (of course in reasonable amounts). He loudly makes himself known when sitting in the kennel, and other dogs pass by going for a walk, especially when he feels that it's time for his walk. There's no chance of forgetting the walk with Berd, he certainly won't allow it 🐾 He is very happy with every moment dedicated to him, he is grateful for every gesture, he is gentle and calm in his relationship with people and is willing to build a bond with anyone. He is beautiful ❤️ Quite large, with fur in autumnal, warm colors. He walks slowly, smoothly and gracefully. He would look very dignified on someone's sofa 😀 The person gives our Berd a sense of security and support, so he seeks our company. After more than a year behind bars, he finally had a chance to get out for longer beyond the animal shelter. He took the bus to the Adopt a Warsaw Dog event and surprised us a lot. He handled the bus ride very well, traveled bravely, was very polite and calm. In the park he was very curious about new places, boldly explored new areas and got to know everyone he met, he likes children and adults. What was the biggest surprise for us, was that Berd likes other dogs and accepts all of them. It turned out that our Berdzik is a city dog:):):) We are asking for a home for Berd. We really don't want him to stay in the animal shelter. He is a smart dog, thirsty for a relationship with people. He is ready for his place in life. Welcome to meet him at Geriatria 🙂 He takes a pill on the heart.

Psiak, podczas spaceru, często prowadzi nas do altanki w parku, gdzie spędzamy czas na głaskach i częstujemy go smakołykami (oczywiście w rozsądnych ilościach). Kroczy powoli, płynnie i z gracją. To mądry pies, spragniony relacji z ludźmi. Jest gotowy na swoje miejsce w życiu. Zapraszamy na zapoznanie na Geriatrię 🙂 Przyjmuje lek na serce. Dominika 512647947 Anna 501175692 Monika 667473808

About Berd

What life with Berd looks like

Berd is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Berd, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Berd?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Berd on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Berd if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Berd already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Berd isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Berd and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
