Berta

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Berta has found her home! Her story: Berta arrived at her foster home and settled in wonderfully, adapting to everyday life. She is now getting the attention she craves. She runs and plays in the garden and enjoys playing with other dogs very much. She is also friendly and open when she meets other animals outside. All beings, whether on two or four legs, are Bertie's friends. On the leash, Berta behaved perfectly right away. She learned a lot from the behavior of other animals and adapted from the start. Berta shows hunting behavior, which is not surprising given her mixed breed. This should be considered both outdoors and when interacting with small animals. Berta is a Dachshund-Mix and is 2 years old. At 30 cm in height, she is a small dog. Because Berta needs a lot of closeness and attention, she would be very happy if she did not have to be left alone for longer than necessary. Her foster home is already practicing being left alone. An only dog could certainly help her and give her some company. Berta is the epitome of a family dog and would love to be with her family at all times. She has not yet met any children. We wish adopters who will love her tenderly and patiently, provide her with a family connection, a warm dog bed, and beautiful walks. After the adjustment period, we would recommend a visit to a positively working dog training class, where Berta can train and make positive experiences with her new family. The lovely Berta travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She has an EU pet passport and can travel after a positive our area. Stand: 15.12. This dog has a prey drive.

Stand: 15.12.2024

About Berta

What life with Berta looks like

Berta is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Berta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Berta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Berta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Berta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Berta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Berta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Berta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
