adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Our namesakes often develop a tremendous creativity when it comes to giving the still homeless canine souls an identity. So it is this time, as the name Berta stands for "The Radiant." We wish from the bottom of our hearts that the sweet little mouse can soon and forever shine, because her start in life was unfortunately not very beautiful. Together with her five siblings Amadeus, Wendy, Feschi, Sonja, and Joy, she had to endure hunger and the fear of death, although Mother Mystery did everything to protect her children. But Mystery's owner suddenly passed away, which resulted in the little family being unwanted in the village from one day to the next, even being driven away. Once again, our diligent animal welfare workers rescued them at the last minute, and all seven furballs are now in a safe foster home in Romania. Berta has not yet fully gotten over the excitement of her first weeks of life. The delicate soul currently shows herself to be shy and reserved. Her appearance also sets her apart from her siblings. Berta is a bit smaller and more fragile. While she is at the very beginning of her dog life, this says nothing about her future development. But Berta might need a bit more love and warmth before she fully opens up. A house with a garden in the countryside would be ideal. As Berta is likely to grow to a medium size, physical exertion, such as exciting nature walks, is very important. She should be taught the lessons of the puppy ABC very gently. Positive dog training classes are always a win when it comes to teaching the little rascals structure and important commands. Besides learning the puppy 1×1, puberty will be a significant milestone in Bertha's life. During this phase of hormonal changes, which will begin in the near future, a bit of chaos might occur. Forgetfulness or rebelliousness are then not uncommon. But no panic. Puberty will pass, and it will make Berta into a real magic mouse. Do you want to bring our Berta with her hazel-brown fur and black nose to shine? She will surely give you much love, go through good and bad times with you, and dream of the exciting adventures with you rolled up in her snuggling basket at night. Starting in July, the delicate Berta can set off and bring her EU pet passport and a comfortable collar with her in her little suitcase. Of course, Berta would also be very happy about a foster home. Thank you, dear Benedikt. You have given the little Berta a hopeful name and thus an identity. As of June 9. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Berta

What life with Berta looks like

Berta is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Berta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Berta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Berta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Berta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Berta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Berta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Berta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
