Bertie

Poodle · Male · Adult · 4 years

Bertie is a gorgeous 4 year old Poodle cross with a sweet, gentle nature and a real love of people. He’s friendly and social with everyone he meets. At home, Bertie is a lovely little companion. He enjoys relaxing on the sofa, especially with his head resting on his foster carer’s lap, and he’s happy to settle while they get on with things around the house. He can sometimes follow along to see what’s happening, but he is also content to stay cosy until something more exciting comes along, like playtime, a walk, or attention from his favourite people. Bertie loves being brushed and will come over excitedly when the brush appears, ready to lie beside you and enjoy a pamper. Out and about, Bertie enjoys exploring and is happy on his walks. He doesn’t pull heavily and will walk closer beside you when gently encouraged. He’s friendly and relaxed around other dogs, happily saying hello when given the chance, and has also spent time calmly around a visiting doggy friend. Bertie travels well in the car too and managed a longer journey without issue. Bertie can live with calm primary school-aged children who are comfortable around a bouncy dog and understand when to give him his own space. He would prefer to be the only pet in the home, but he is happy to go on walks with doggy friends. If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate little companion who loves sofa snuggles, squeaky balls and gentle company, Bertie could be a wonderful match. About Bertie

What life with Bertie looks like

Bertie is a adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Dundee in Dundee.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bertie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bertie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Dundee handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bertie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bertie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Dundee will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bertie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bertie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Dundee early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bertie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
