Adopt Betty

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 10 months

Betty is related to Sammy Must be homed with Sammy We rescued an utterly adorable band of 6 kittens from a difficult situation in which they would have struggled to survive. They were hand reared and nursed back to health, so they are very used to human contact and well socialised. It is thought they mostly share the same father, who has endowed them with fine leonine facial features but there must have been at least two mothers because of closely different ages. Between their antics they love to be cuddled and stroked and are always happy and excited to see you. They greet you with purrs, leg climbs and are eager to sit on your feet, lap or shoulder. Every single one of them will make a delightful and affectionate family pet and they are suitable for sensible children aged 8 and over. Betty is a very pretty little tortie girl. She only has to be looked at and will purr loudly. She loves to play and cuddle but also likes a hiding place to sleep. She’s worked out that she can get a peaceful meal by waiting for the others to scoff their fill before going for hers. She was the first to be up on the windowsill and watch the world outside. Dear sweet little Betty is the smallest but, being tortie, can fight her corner. She gazes wistfully through the windows and is establishing her independence and enjoyment of solitude to sleep. However she comes when called and enjoys cuddles and snuggles as much as ever. About Betty

What life with Betty looks like

Betty is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Hounslow Animal Welfare Society in United Kingdom.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Betty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Betty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hounslow Animal Welfare Society handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Betty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Betty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hounslow Animal Welfare Society will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Betty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Betty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hounslow Animal Welfare Society early rather than rehoming privately; they know Betty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
