Adopt Bibi

Female · Senior · 19 years

Bibi is not in our care at the moment, so we cannot currently accept a sponsorship for her! Bibi is still a very fearful cat. We are looking for a family for her that already has experience with cats. Bibi needs to be given a lot of time to get acclimated. She is still very fearful but not aggressive. She does not want to be picked up, and if you try, she will immediately run away and hide. If she is sitting somewhere, she can be petted. The helpers on site believe that she just needs time and patience... Update 30.10.2017 Bibi, called Pauline by her family, has long had a lovely home in Germany and was very happy there. Due to personal reasons of the family, Bibi cannot stay there any longer and is now looking for a new, beautiful home together with her friend Pippi Lotta. Pauline and Pippi Lotta are both 10 years old, neutered, and are looking for a rather quiet home without children and, if possible, without other animals. Both currently have a large balcony with secure outdoor access, and this would be desirable for them in the future as well. Both are strictly indoor cats. They are used to being alone during the day. They are very affectionate, although Pauline is initially very shy around strangers and new environments. However, this changes quickly once she knows she can trust.

About Bibi

What life with Bibi looks like

Bibi is a large senior cat waiting at Tierhilfe Miezekatze e.V. in Germany.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bibi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bibi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Miezekatze e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bibi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bibi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Miezekatze e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bibi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bibi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Miezekatze e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bibi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
