Wanda

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 7 years

Wanda comes from a cat colony on an industrial site. One of the hall owners was disturbed by the cats. He called the Perrera, so the pretty Wanda came together with Tizian, Luno and Rajah to the bad Perrera of Jerez, where they still kill when the cages are full. At least the Perrera now informs animal rights activists when it gets full. Josefina picked up the four, they now live on the Finca and have already passed the quarantine. Wanda was already spayed when she came to the Finca. This does not mean that she had a family. She was probably spayed in a spaying campaign. She is missing a small piece of her ear, something that is always done in such spaying campaigns so that the cats are not caught a second time. Especially with black cats this is very helpful. Wanda is very, very anxious. She runs away when she sees only one person. The mouse will need an experienced family that has enough time and patience to deal with a cat like Wanda. But how often have we seen that cats that were totally shy on the Finca suddenly turned the tables and mutated from a scare to a cuddly cat in a home. We can never guarantee that, of course. Update 03.11.2023 It has been a long time since we heard from Wanda. We are particularly sorry about this, as Wanda soon after her introduction got a sponsor, from whom we from Cadiz have still not thanked. We finally want to do that now. A big thank you to Renate G. for securing Wanda's maintenance. Wanda is doing well. Unfortunately, she is still very hidden, so we can hardly take photos - especially beautiful photos of her. So she still needs a family with a lot of understanding for such shy cats. But we do not give up hope that a cozy home will still be found for a cat like Wanda. Wanda gets along very well with other cats, she often lies with them. So she would be suitable as a friend for existing cats anyway. Update 30.10.2024 And again almost a year has passed - and Wanda is still waiting. She has been in our care for almost three and a half years now. Wanda has remained shy to this day. So it is not only her black fur color that makes her

About Wanda

What life with Wanda looks like

Wanda is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierhilfe Miezekatze e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wanda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wanda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Miezekatze e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wanda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wanda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Miezekatze e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Wanda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Wanda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Miezekatze e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wanda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
