Adopt Bieta

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Carpen shelter kennel is located on a quiet countryside. The location is ideal for the dogs living in the shelter kennel, but being in a remote location has its challenges. There are hardly any other animal shelters in the nearby area, and therefore there are many homeless animals in the area. The word shelter kennel has spread and unfortunately people often also abandon their animals near the farm. In the fall of 2022, the person maintaining the farm, Carmen, found two small puppies on a field near the farm. The mother was not visible anywhere, so it was a complete mystery whether something had happened to the mother or if someone had abandoned unwanted puppies there for her to find. Knowing that the puppies would not survive on their own, Carmen took them to the shelter kennel for safety. The more active puppy found a home earlier, but the quieter one Bieta is still waiting in the shelter kennel. He lives together with Milan, Menja, and Mela. Bieta is typically a bit quiet for puppies raised in the shelter kennel. All new things worry him, and therefore when the kennel run is visited by strangers, he prefers to retreat a short distance away to observe the situation. Bieta is the most active of the four dogs living in the kennel run, and with encouragement he becomes brave enough to try nibbling a stranger's finger. After some time getting used to, he can also be slightly patted, although actual touching and handling still clearly worries him. The presence of people clearly interests Bieta. He seems to be very much like the kind of dog that could probably become more confident relatively quickly in the right home or foster home.

Carpen tarha sijaitsee rauhallisella maaseudulla. Bieta on tarhalla kasvaneille pennuille tyypillisesti hieman ujo.

About Bieta

What life with Bieta looks like

Bieta is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bieta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bieta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bieta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bieta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bieta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bieta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bieta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
