Billy Ray Cyrus

Poodle · Male · Young · 1 year

Billy Ray Cyrus is looking for a calm and predictable home with loving, patient and understanding adopters who can help him to settle in to a home environment after not having the best start in life. He could live with older secondary school children who can let him approach at his own pace, who will play with him nicely and will give him space to rest when needed. Billy would benefit from having polite and calm walking buddies who will help him to build confidence around socialising with other dogs, but needs to be the only pet in the home. Billy is currently learning to walk on a lead, he could be enticed to do training once he is settled in his new home and feels safe, he likes a tasty treat so this will help to get him to engage. He would like a home with a private garden to explore and potter off lead at his leisure. Billy can settle nicely alone so could be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once he has had time to settle into his new home. Billy will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Fun little guy Billy Ray Cyrus is a 1 and 1/2 year old Poodle cross with lots of character. He has a lot of confidence building to do, but is becoming more assured every day. He loves his toys and chases around after them, he will sometimes bring them back for another throw, but is happy to play alone, bouncing and pouncing on them and chucking them in the air. He takes time to warm up to new people, but once he has a bond with you he will approach for a quick chin tickle or may even hop up onto the sofa next to you for a snooze. This sweet pooch is looking for a special home who will take things at his pace - could this be you?

About Billy Ray Cyrus

What life with Billy Ray Cyrus looks like

Billy Ray Cyrus is a young adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Billy Ray Cyrus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Billy Ray Cyrus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Billy Ray Cyrus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Billy Ray Cyrus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Billy Ray Cyrus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Billy Ray Cyrus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Billy Ray Cyrus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
