adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Bim can travel directly to his final home! His story: We met Bim during our last visit to our shelter and were immediately charmed by the handsome male dog. With his long, soft fur in various shades of brown, he catches the eye. Unfortunately, Bim is still very shy and doesn't trust humans much. For a long time, he struggled alone on the streets until one day he fell into the hands of dog catchers… They brought him to the public animal shelter in Bistrita. A blessing and a curse. Now he lives in a small pen and his freedom has been taken away. But he has the chance to travel to a safe life where he will be loved and cared for. We hope very much for our Bim – we hope for a worry-free, happy, and species-appropriate dog life. Because Bim suffers greatly. He is one of the many dogs who suffer quietly. He sits in his small pen and hardly moves. Bim is about 5 years old. He has a medium size of about 55cm and has a pleasant, medium size. Bim wishes for a loving home that will give him the time he needs to build trust. The pen stresses him greatly. But who could blame him? Slowly, Bim is warming up a little and he takes cheese or treats out of your hand and shows interest and curiosity. In a quiet home or away from all the stressors, Bim will surely thaw out and be able to relax. We cannot rule out that Bim has guardian or kitchen protection traits. Therefore, we are looking for experienced people who have already dealt with these traits or are willing to deal with them and bring the optimal conditions. Bim wishes for a more rural home with an enclosed garden where he can lie and enjoy the sun. Bim would also be happy to visit dog training classes that work positively, where he can not only learn the dog ABCs but also play with his dog buddies and build a good bond with his people. Bim is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas in his new home. Of course, he brings his EU pet passport with him. Against an adoption fee of 500 Euro and after a positive assessment, Bim would also be happy with a foster home placement. Many thanks to I. Schauermann, who gave Bim his name and identity. A big thank you also goes to Claudia B., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Bim. As of: 25.05.

Vielen Dank I. Schauermann. Stand: 25.05.2024

About Bim

What life with Bim looks like

Bim is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bim, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bim?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bim on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bim if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bim already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bim isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bim and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
