Biscuit

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Biscuit, a male dog, has been at the shelter since October 2026. He is estimated to be born in June 2026 and will likely grow to be between 40-59 cm tall and weigh 20-35 kg. He is available for adoption on November 14th. Watch the video to meet Biscuit! This adorable puppy was rescued from a killing station and taken in by the shelter. You can find more information about how dogs end up in shelters and general questions in our animal welfare FAQ. Biscuit is currently recovering from a severe start in life and the hardships of the killing station. His character will continue to develop in the coming weeks and months - only the beginnings can be seen at this point. If you would like more information about this puppy, please contact our adoption team. Unfortunately, Biscuit has pneumonia and is currently being treated at a veterinary clinic. He has also developed neurological symptoms that are being treated with antiepileptic medication. Our adoption team knows the most about his current health status. If you have any questions, please send us a message. Puppies should not have to grow up in shelters. That's why we are urgently looking for a loving home or an experienced foster home for this little puppy - a place where he can discover the world, build trust and simply be a puppy. Anyone adopting a puppy should be aware of how demanding life with a young dog can be: As soon as housebreaking is accomplished, the "wild puberty" often begins - full of energy, uncertainty and new challenges. The first years of life are an exciting journey that humans and dogs go through together - with ups and downs and many learning moments. We hope for people with patience, empathy and perseverance for this puppy - and with the understanding that shelter dogs often already have a certain history. How they react to their new life in Germany can never be fully predicted. But one thing is certain: Adopting instead of buying not only gives a second chance to an animal, but also actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by your side. In love yet? Send us a self-disclosure! Adoption If you are thinking about adoption, first read through the . All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, de-fleaed and neutered before they leave (except for puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs over 1 year old are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any questions, please send a message to our adoption team.

About Biscuit

What life with Biscuit looks like

Biscuit is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Biscuit, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Biscuit?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Biscuit on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Biscuit if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Biscuit already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Biscuit isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Biscuit and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
