Blackie

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Blackie has found a home! His story: Blackie is about 6 months old and a real sight: black as raven, glossy fur, floppy ears, and beautiful brown eyes that directly capture the heart. Currently living in an outdoor pen at our shelter in our area, this place is too loud, too cold, and too barren for a young dog like him. With a current shoulder height of about 45 cm and weighing 15 kg, Blackie is growing steadily and is expected to be medium to large in size. But not only his appearance is impressive – his nature is something special. At first, Blackie was still reserved, but this uncertainty was quickly shed. Today, he is friendly, curious, and very people-oriented. When he sees the helpers, he can hardly sit still – his tail doesn't stop wagging with joy. He enjoys cuddles, seeks closeness, and shows himself to be playful and lively like a puppy. At the same time, it is noticeable that he still has a lot to learn – which is completely normal for a dog of his age. Blackie gets along well with other dogs and shows social and playful behavior. He has not yet experienced life in a home. Things like house training, leash walking, everyday noises, or quiet periods are still new to him and need to be learned step by step. Like any young dog, Blackie will also enter puberty in the coming months. During this developmental phase, boundaries are tested, uncertainties can arise again, and what has been learned may sometimes seem forgotten. With patience, loving consistency, clear structures, and positive reinforcement, this time can be well accompanied – laying the foundation for a confident, balanced family dog. His story began tragically: Blackie was abandoned on the roadside with his sister and another puppy alone – without food, without water, defenseless against danger. Only by chance were they discovered and saved by Calin. Without this help, they would have barely had a chance of survival. Now, we wish for Blackie a home or a foster home with people who enjoy accompanying a young dog on its journey through life. People who bring time, patience, and love and are eager to grow together with Blackie. Attending a positively working dog training class would be a wonderful support for him to go through life safely and confidently. Blackie can travel starting in January. He travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, brings his EU pet passport with him, and will be released after a positive. Who would like to show this black gold treasure how wonderful a dog life can be – full of closeness, security, and shared adventures? Many thanks to Natalia P.! Your nametag was the starting gun for a new life! As of: 17.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 17.01.2026

About Blackie

What life with Blackie looks like

Blackie is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blackie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blackie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blackie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blackie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blackie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blackie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blackie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
