Blacky

Border Collie · Male · Senior · 10 years

Blacky male dog Mittelgroß Geschlecht: Männlich Geboren: 21.4.2019 Größe: Mittelgroß Rasse: Border Collie neutered: nein Katzen: nein Kinder: über 10 Jahre Patenschaft: erwünscht Blacky Blacky is an open, people-friendly fellow who builds trust quickly after a short get-to-know-you phase. He is, breed-typically, very attentive, incredibly eager to learn, and enjoys companionship with his human. Mental and physical stimulation, but in equal measure, are essential for the handsome one. According to his previous owner, he once bit after warnings, but this statement has been altered multiple times. On the leash, Blacky reacts very interestedly, he loves to move in nature. He doesn't like cats at all, as he has hunting ambitions. Everyday situations are no foreign concept to him; he can stay alone after a short adjustment period. A trainer for the initial phase would be highly recommended, even if he's a breed beginner, just to better understand his dog. We wish for the active, friendly fellow a quiet home with experienced people who can offer him time, patience, and clear structures. Children should be over ten years old, and no small pets or cats may live in the new home.

Blacky Rüde Mittelgroß Geschlecht: Männlich Geboren: 21.4.2019 Größe: Mittelgroß Rasse: Border Collie Kastriert: nein Katzen: nein Kinder: über 10 Jahre Patenschaft: erwünscht Blacky Blacky ist ein aufgeschlossener, menschenfreundlicher Kerl, der nach kurzer Kennlernphase Vertrauen fasst. Er ist, rassetypisch, sehr aufmerksam, unglaublich lernwillig und genießt Gemeinsamkeiten mit seinem Menschen. Geistige und körperliche Auslastung, allerdings im gleichen Verhältnis, Ruhe sind für den Hübschen unbedingt notwendig. Laut Aussage des Vorbesitzers soll er diese, nach Vorwarnungen, einmal gebissen haben. Allerdings wurde diese Aussage mehrmals verändert wiedergegeben. An der Leine reagiert Blacky sehr interessiert, er liebt es, sich in der Natur zu bewegen. Katzen mag er garnicht, da er jagdliche Ambitionen hat. Alltagssituationen sind für ihn kein Fremdwort, kann nach kurzer Eingewöhnung auch allein bleiben. Ein Hundetrainer für die Anfangszeit wäre, sofern Rasseneuanfänger, sehr zu empfehelen, einfach nur, um seinen Hund besser lesen zu können. Wir wünschen uns für den aktiven, freundlichen Kerl ein ruhiges Zuhause, bei rasseerfahrenen Menschen, die ihm Zeit, Geduld und klare Strukturen bieten. Kinder sollen das 10. Lebensjahr überschritten haben, Kleintiere und Katzen dürfen keinesfalls im neuen Zuhause leben. {gallery}hunde/hunde-2026/blacky(/gallery}

About Blacky

What life with Blacky looks like

Blacky is a senior border collie dog waiting at Tierheim Delitzsch in Delitzsch.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blacky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blacky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Delitzsch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blacky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blacky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Delitzsch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blacky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blacky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Delitzsch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blacky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
