Blaire

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

✅ Can live with calm children of any age ✅ Neutered, vaccinated and microchipped ✅ Will receive five week's FREE pet insurance Blaire is a brilliant mixture of confidence, sass, and just a little bit of sensitivity. She has come an enormous way since arriving in our care, transforming from a shy girl into what her carers affectionately describe as a “sassy little madam”. She likes being around people and involved in whatever is happening, but she’s also very much a cat who believes interactions should happen on her terms. Once Blaire decides she trusts you, there’s a wonderfully affectionate girl underneath that independent exterior. She’ll roll over to ask for strokes, allow herself to be picked up, and melt into you for a cuddle. She isn’t currently a lap cat, but she clearly enjoys affection when the moment is right. Her new family will need to understand that the quickest way to Blaire’s heart is actually not to rush her at all - give her the choice, and she’ll come to you. Play is another excellent way to win her over. Blaire loves toys and will happily entertain herself, so she doesn’t need constant human involvement to have fun. She also loves her food and generally enjoys being part of everyday life around the café. She can cope perfectly well with her humans being away for a working day, making her a good option for someone who wants a companion without needing a particularly clingy cat. Blaire isn’t generally fearful, although sudden movements can make her jump and she appreciates being approached gently. For this reason, we’re looking for people who will allow her to set the pace rather than expecting instant affection. She could live with children, but calmer, cat-savvy children who understand that trust has to be earned would be the best match. Children who enjoy interactive play without trying to constantly handle her could potentially win her over very quickly. Her opinions about other cats are a little more specific. Blaire has generally coexisted well within the café, but she has developed dislikes towards some female cats and can pick on them. She appears much happier around males, so if her new home already has a cat, a compatible male would be our preference. She could equally be the only feline in her home. We don't feel Blaire would enjoy living with a dog. Although she has plenty of sass when she feels secure, she also has a slightly jumpy side, and adding a dog to the household is unlikely to bring out the best in her. Blaire is looking for an indoor-only home. Her tendency to startle means we don't feel outdoor life would suit her, and she can be perfectly happy indoors provided she has enough play, enrichment, and opportunities to explore safely. Blaire won't necessarily walk into her new home and immediately climb onto someone's lap. What she offers instead is the chance to build a relationship with a cat whose affection genuinely feels earned. Give her space, toys, good food, and a gentle approach, and you'll gradually discover the cuddly girl hiding underneath all that sass.

About Blaire

What life with Blaire looks like

Blaire is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at People in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blaire, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blaire?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. People handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blaire on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blaire if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — People will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Blaire already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Blaire isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with People early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blaire and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
