BLITZ

German Shepherd · Unknown · Adult · 7 years

Blitz is currently about 6 years old. He’s a beautiful, strong dog of German Shepherd type, with working-line ancestry, who loves playing and being petted by his favorite caregivers. He’s very people-oriented, enjoys human company, and loves engaging in shared activities. He readily obeys basic commands and is eager to learn new tricks that will satisfy his strong need for mental stimulation. Blitz has plenty of energy—early in a walk, he can be quite excited and pull on the leash—but after a short while, he noticeably calms down. When interacting with other dogs, he tends to be uncertain and sometimes displays emotional reactions, so he’ll benefit from further socialization and lots of calmness. Ideally, he’d be the only dog in his new home. He certainly won’t be the kind of dog who spends the whole day lounging peacefully on the couch unless his needs are first met; therefore, we’re looking for a home that can provide him with plenty of activity, consistency, and a sense of security. With the right, experienced caregiver, he’ll surely develop a wonderful, long-lasting relationship built on trust. We invite you to come for a meet-and-greet walk and get to know Blitz! PL·Show original

About BLITZ

What life with BLITZ looks like

BLITZ is a large adult german shepherd dog waiting at Schronisko Kraków in Kraków.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting BLITZ, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BLITZ?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kraków handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BLITZ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BLITZ if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kraków will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BLITZ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BLITZ isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kraków early rather than rehoming privately; they know BLITZ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
