BLU

Labrador Retriever Β· Male Β· Senior Β· 9 years

BLU - ONE ADORABLE SENIOR LABRADOR This gorgeous, sweet soul is Blu. Blu was cruelly abandoned down a lane at the senior age of eleven years. He has recently come to us from the stray kennels and has proved himself a gentleman for sure. This old man is no trouble at all. He is such a sweet boy that adores being loved and cuddled and his walks. He has been loved before and is so well rounded. Just what has happened to Blu we do not know. Blu has fur loss across his chest which is possibly due to an ill fitting harness. This lovely Labrador has hair loss on his tail caused by flea dermatitis and his nails were extremely long on arrival. He is also extremely overweight so we have reduced his food and he is now having lots of time out walking. Blu loves this and adores company and the limelight. He has now been seen by the vets and passed a full health check. Our lovely lad has now been treated for fleas and worms and vaccinated. We have no history on what has happened to this loving lad so we can only move forward in giving him the care and support he needs. A home is needed urgently for Blu. Blu will be needing a dental as soon as we can find him a new start in a loving home. This will be supported and paid for by our charity and at no cost for his adopter. Can you foster Blu. Adoption is preferred however we desperately need to find this gorgeous old man home comforts. THE HOME BLU NEEDS Blue urgently needs a loving home and some TLC and love from kind people. He has now had a make over at the vets and would just love to be your friend and companion. Blu has been amazing around otehr dogs however we feel he would be happiest as the apple of your eye without added pressures of other pets. He loves cuddles and is such a loyal and kind dog. At eleven years old we do not want to waste precious days for Blu in kennels so we are reaching out to people to consider giving him the support he needs. Blu needs to lose weight and have regular exercise to help shed the pounds. He just adores people and would make such a loyal friend. He will not be needed any marathons however it is crucial he has a garden and the walks he loves so much. If you can offer this sweet old lad a new start please get in touch. Blu needs a dental as soon as possible which will be supported by our charity. Please consider the older dogs. Life is very short for many dogs and this boy deserves to be loved in the latter stages of life. Do you have the perfect retirement of Blu? PLEASE COMPLETE AN APPLICATION FORM WITH ESSENTIAL DETAILS ABOUT YOURSELF BY CLICKING ON THE ADOPT ME BUTTON BELOW. PLEASE READ THE DETAILS ABOVE ABOUT THE HOME PADDY NEEDS BEFORE APPLYING. HOME CHECKS AND VET REFERENCES IF POSSIBLE ARE NEEDED PRIOR ANY ADOPTION OF OUR RESCUE DOGS. CALLS ARE WELCOME. GOOD LIFE DOES NOT OWN KENNELS BUT ARE NOW RENTING A FULL BLOCK IN GARFORTH, LEEDS. Due to the sheer volume of stray dogs now needing help our charity is running behind with admin. Our main priority is for the daily exercise and welfare of the dogs in our care. We thank people for their patience and kind words of support. Our charity exists with no staff so time is always very precious and we are work extremely late hours to maintain our small rescue. We are now seeing an increase in stray dogs, cruelty and shocking abandonment. We remain here for the dogs with no voice and an uncertain future. We are working hard to accommodate many neglected dogs. Support and kindness towards our voluntary organisation is greatly appreciated. Good Life Dog Rescue are a small charity dedicated to helping stray dogs in Yorkshire. We remain very active in the work we do although we exist only on few volunteers who are mainly weekend walkers. It is important that all our dogs have a happy life and a forever home and we ensure both humans and hounds are always well matched and love each other dearly. Please be in touch to make an appointment to meet our dogs or for more details we welcome calls. We are huge supporters of stray dogs.

About BLU

What life with BLU looks like

BLU is an extra-large senior labrador retriever dog waiting at Good Life Dog Rescue in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting BLU, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BLU?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Good Life Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BLU on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BLU if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Good Life Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is BLU already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BLU isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Good Life Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know BLU and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
