Blue

Female · Senior · 9 years

Blue (weight approx. 2.0kg, neutered) was surrendered to us as her owner unfortunately passed away and no one in the family was able to take over Blue and find her a new rabbit companion, as she had also lost this one a year ago. Here at the shelter, Blue is rather withdrawn and a bit grumpy, so she urgently needs a loving rabbit friend by her side. As Blue belongs to the "Lop" breed, special attention must always be paid to her ear canals, as this is a risk factor for ear infections. Her ears must be cleaned at regular intervals, but so far no infections have occurred. She is currently housed indoors. If you are interested, please contact us by email () and attach a few photos of your enclosure, as well as your rabbit's vaccination certificate.

About Blue

What life with Blue looks like

Blue is a senior rabbit waiting at Tierheim Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Blue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Blue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Düsseldorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Blue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Blue if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a rabbit can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierheim Düsseldorf what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Blue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a rabbit comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierheim Düsseldorf directly what is included and what Blue still needs.
What happens if Blue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Düsseldorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Blue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
