Bobby

English Bulldog · Male · Adult · 5 years

Meet Bully, our handsome American Bulldog! Bully arrived at Battersea through no fault of his own and has quickly won people over with his affectionate and loving nature. In his previous home he lived happily alongside children and was described as a friendly boy who loved attention and being close to his family. Since arriving in our care Bully has found kennel life a little overwhelming being quite vocal at times and has much preferred spending time with people. He forms strong bonds and enjoys fuss, cuddles and simply being near his favourite humans. Bully is looking for owners who can continue working on his confidence when left alone, as he has shown some separation-related behaviours both in his previous home and while in our care. He is already beginning to settle into routines on foster and has shown that he can relax when given time, patience and appropriate enrichment. Bully enjoys meeting other dogs and has some lovely social skills, but he has also shown some sexual behaviours and would prefer to be the only dog in the home. He would benefit from continuing positive socialisation with suitable dog friends out on walks. Potential adopters should be aware that Bully is a large and powerful dog. Since moving into foster care he has become much more confident and has shown that he can be extremely strong on lead, particularly if he spots squirrels or wildlife. New owners will need to be physically capable of managing him and committed to ongoing lead walking training. Bully is looking for a home with a private garden, access to quieter walking routes while he settles in, and owners who can provide consistency, training and lots of affection. He may be able to live with a confident dog-savvy cat following careful introductions and can live with sensible teenagers aged 13 years and over. For the right family, Bully will make an incredibly loyal, affectionate and rewarding companion who has so much love to give. About Bobby

What life with Bobby looks like

Bobby is a large adult english bulldog dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bobby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bobby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bobby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bobby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bobby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bobby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bobby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
