BOCELLI

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 16 years

Bocelli is a dog that you usually walk past. The fact that he is simply not seen or wanted is his fate. He was kept in a small enclosure on concrete for years. The cold must have often been unbearable. Nobody took care of him. He only got food and water, irregularly and in poor quality. Why this inhumane treatment? Maybe because he is mostly blind. Maybe he became blind under these circumstances. Could Bocelli still see the other animals in freedom, which was unreachable for him? Could he see the dull people who treated him so shabbily? In any case, he has developed mistrust and anger towards those outside in these living conditions. But then, one day in the summer of 2020, Bocelli was allowed to come to our shelter as a poor, blind, old dog. He received affection, good food, and a warm sleeping place in his new area. Meanwhile, Bocelli has developed trust in people and likes to lie with a staff member in the house in the evenings. He loves his caregivers, the family of our employee, and his walkers very much. He jumps up and down in the enclosure like a giant bouncy ball when he hears their voices. On the leash (and for the safety of other animals still with a muzzle) he runs happily sniffing through forests and meadows, wallows in the dewy grass and enjoys his newly gained life. He responds well to speech, hardly pulls and comes when called. NOW the time has come to look for his very special own person. Bocelli needs a secure home without other small animals. He will do everything for his person, even for their protection. That's why he still needs to train his social skills, preferably under the guidance of experienced trainers. But he also rewards this effort with an overabundance of affection for his people. Who would like to live with this fantastic dog buddy in the near future? If you are the right ones, please contact his mediator Norbert Pfeiff at Tel. or Email n. pfeiff-animale. de , who can provide further information about him.

About BOCELLI

What life with BOCELLI looks like

BOCELLI is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Casa Animale e.V. in Gefrees.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting BOCELLI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BOCELLI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Casa Animale e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BOCELLI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BOCELLI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Casa Animale e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is BOCELLI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BOCELLI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Casa Animale e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know BOCELLI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
