Bolo

Male · Senior · 10 years

Health status: resection of the head of the left femur—details will be discussed directly with the veterinarian at the shelter. Due to his health condition, Bolo is also looking for a foster home. Details regarding the foster home will be arranged with the shelter during meet-and-greet sessions. Bolo arrived at the shelter at the end of January. At first, he didn’t trust anyone—perhaps this behavior was due to pain associated with an injury to his hind leg. He underwent orthopedic surgery, and it’s clear from his demeanor that he felt tremendous relief. Initially shy, over time he has picked up speed and now even needs to be slowed down on walks so that he properly puts weight on his operated leg. We are urgently looking for a home for Bolo that can engage in exercises with him (we’ll show you exactly what and how) and take him to physiotherapy sessions with a specialist to help him regain full mobility. The detailed health status and recovery plan will be presented to those interested in caring for Bolo during a conversation with the veterinarian at the shelter. Bolo really likes female dogs; he reacts selectively toward male dogs. He seems positively disposed toward cats. He loves soft blankets very much. With people he trusts, he’s extremely friendly, happily cuddles, and enjoys human company—but he can also entertain himself nicely and isn’t pushy.

Początkowo nieśmiało, ale z czasem włączył piąty bieg i trzeba go wręcz spowalniać na spacerach, by prawidłowo obciążał operowaną łapę. PILNIE szukamy dla Bolusia domu, który będzie mógł ćwiczyć z nim (pokażemy co i jak) i zabierać go na fizjoterapię do specjalisty, by pomóc mu wrócić do pełnej sprawności. Stan zdrowia i plan rekonwalescencji zostanie szczegółowo przedstawiony osobom zainteresowanym opieką nad Bolo, podczas rozmowy z lekarzem w schronisku.

About Bolo

What life with Bolo looks like

Bolo is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bolo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bolo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bolo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bolo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bolo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bolo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bolo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
