Bonnie

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 7 years

Some dogs run toward you as if the whole world were one big adventure. And some—like BONNIE—approach slowly, cautiously, with their heads lowered, as if they still can’t quite bring themselves to believe that things might finally turn out okay. ♡ BONNIE is a female dog, born in March 2019, spayed, and standing at a harmonious, medium size of 50 cm. Her bright, warm coat, gentle eyes, and soft expression—they make her look like a dog straight out of a quiet story where everything ends up just fine. And that’s exactly what we wish for her. The people caring for BONNIE describe her as rather insecure and submissive. She’s not one to bark loudly. She doesn’t demand attention. She doesn’t push herself into the spotlight. BONNIE is the kind of dog who makes herself smaller than she is—a dog who waits patiently, carefully observing before taking even the slightest step. For so long, caution was her survival strategy in her world—and it has left its mark. That’s precisely why we’re looking for an experienced home for BONNIE: people who understand that submissive dogs aren’t “easy” dogs—but rather sensitive souls who need plenty of delicacy and care. People who are calm and clear, without pressure or haste; people who don’t make her feel like she has to achieve anything, but instead let her simply be. People who grasp that BONNIE needs time to realize: You’re not in the way. You’re welcome. You’re allowed to stay. We’d like BONNIE to find a peaceful home in a residential area or on the outskirts of town—preferably with a garden—a little haven where she can arrive at her own pace, free from the sensory overload of the big city. A bustling, noisy city would be far too much for her sensitive soul. BONNIE is waiting for people who’ll show her that she doesn’t have to shrink herself to be loved—that she’s enough exactly as she is. Maybe you’re just the person who’ll help her heart bloom, slowly but surely. Friendly, compatible, insecure ✓ A home with a garden ✓ Experienced dog owners ✓ Happy to join another dog ✓ Prefers living in a rural setting—not in an urban environment We rescued BONNIE from the kill shelter in Cornetu in 2023. We don’t know her history. Help Bonnie find a forever home—share this with your friends ❤️

About Bonnie

What life with Bonnie looks like

Bonnie is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundsrücker Tierschutz gUG early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
