Bonnie

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Beautiful Bonnie came into the care of Chilterns Dog Rescue in Tring, Hertfordshire, when her owner had to move into sheltered accommodation and now finds herself looking for a new forever home through no fault of her own. Bonnie is a lovely, black and tan, 10 year old Shepherd lady (born: 1.5.16). She is medium/large size and currently weighs approximately 39kg. She has a gentle heart and a very sweet nature. She adores human company and is happiest when she can be close to the people around her, enjoying plenty of affection and attention. At this stage in her life, she deserves nothing more than a peaceful, loving retirement where she can relax, feel safe and cherished and enjoy all the comforts she deserves. Bonnie favourite things are company and gentle walks. She would love a home where she can take life at a slower pace, surrounded by kind people who will give her the love and companionship she enjoys. She has so much love left to give and she is hoping that her next chapter will be her forever one. Bonnie would prefer to be the only pet in the home and has no experience of previously living with children. She can be left for short periods until settled and has limited experience of travelling in the car. Bonnie is house-trained and clean in the home. She has not yet been vet checked, however she is not currently on any medication. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ If you would like to give beautiful Bonnie the loving home she deserves, please contact Chilterns Dog Rescue Society or by completing their Online Application Form here . About Bonnie

What life with Bonnie looks like

Bonnie is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
