Bonnie

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Bonnie is a sweet 3-year-old cat who is looking for a forever home. She is a cuddly and affectionate cat who loves attention and being around people. She gets along well with children and is a very easy-going cat who just wants a place to call her own. Unfortunately, Bonnie has some scars on her side and part of her tail is missing. We believe these scars are the result of old burns. We don't know exactly what happened to her, but she is looking forward to a happy life. Bonnie would love to have a home where she can go outside and explore, and then come back to get attention. She also has sensitive lungs, but she can live a long and happy life with the right care. It is very important that her new home is smoke-free, as smoking is not good for her lungs. If you can see beyond her scars and see the sweet cat she is, she would love to be your new best friend. She has so much love to give and is hoping that her forever home is waiting for her.

Dat lijkt me fantastisch.

About Bonnie

What life with Bonnie looks like

Bonnie is a small young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dierencentrum De Mère in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bonnie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bonnie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierencentrum De Mère handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bonnie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bonnie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierencentrum De Mère will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bonnie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bonnie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierencentrum De Mère early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bonnie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
