Boo

Pit Bull Terrier · Male

Boo - a heart for people and ready for his new home. ❤️ Boo is a dog who loves people above all else. With him, you always know what to expect - he is 1000% honest with his human. Even when he gets worked up in the kennel due to the situation with his neighbor dog and makes a big impression, he can be easily approached, taken by the collar, and pulled out of the situation. His trust in humans is simply incredible. In the exercise yard, Boo shows his other side: After a short sniffing round, he comes to his humans all by himself, sits down with them, and enjoys every single petting session. Closeness, attention, and time together are the most important things for him. Boo also really enjoys walks. He walks well on a leash and encounters most dogs calmly and relaxed. Only when other dogs provoke or bully him can he get carried away. He is already working on this - and Boo is making great progress. And when the temperatures rise, there is hardly anything better for Boo than a wading pool. There he can splash around to his heart's content and just be a dog. Boo is looking for people who are not misled by his behavior in the kennel, but want to get to know the loving, cuddly, and loyal dog behind it. Whoever gives him this chance will get a wonderful companion by his side. ❤️

About Boo

What life with Boo looks like

Boo is a adult pit bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Gelsenkirchen in Gelsenkirchen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Gelsenkirchen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Gelsenkirchen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Gelsenkirchen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
