Boomer (D)

Podenco · Male

Boomer (D)NOTFALL ID No.: 1058378 Breed: Podenco Mix Age: approx. 08/2018 Gender: Male Shoulder Height: approx. 59 cm Neutered/Spayed: Yes Country: Germany Location: Heinsen (Holzminden District) ZIP Code: 37649 Foster Home Sought Application Form Boomer is looking for a new home—this time, for good! Boomer’s skeptical gaze (*08/2018, approx. 59 cm) is no accident. This handsome Podenco mix, far from being past his prime, had already lived in a home in Spain before arriving at our partner animal shelter Triple A Marbella (Spain). In 2020, he was allowed to travel to Germany and found his first family here. After losing this home as well, he was rehomed again in 2022. Now, for the third time already, Boomer is losing his home through no fault of his own. The reason isn’t with him—it’s due to a profound change in his family’s life situation, which makes it heartbreakingly impossible for them to keep him. With his current family, Boomer has become a pleasant companion in everyday life. He’s reliably house-trained, can easily stay alone at home for some time, and loves riding in the car. With his primary caregiver, he’s exceptionally affectionate, clingy, and cherishes every moment spent together. When meeting strangers, Boomer is initially reserved and needs some time to build trust. But once you’ve won his heart, he reveals himself as a sensitive, loyal, and devoted companion. Boomer longs for someone by his side who recognizes his needs, can read his body language, and provides him with the security he so desperately craves. When he feels understood, he becomes an absolutely reliable and loving companion. For Boomer, we’d like a calm, dog-experienced home without small children, cats, or other dogs. Ideally, it would be a quiet living environment with people who meet him with patience, understanding, and consistency and give him the time he needs to build trust. In situations that overwhelm him—for example, at the vet—it can happen that Boomer wants to create some space for himself and has even moved forward in the past. However, since he’s already familiar with wearing a muzzle and associates it positively, such situations can be managed proactively and without stress. Boomer is an intelligent dog who forms a close bond with his people. After everything he’s been through, we couldn’t wish for anything more than for him finally to find a permanent home. It breaks our hearts that we’re once again searching for a home for him—but all the more we hope that his next family will also be his last. If you’d like to give Boomer the chance for one last, definitive fresh start, we’d love to hear from you. You’re welcome to meet him in Heinsen (37649) after prior arrangement. Since Boomer is losing his home at the end of August, a foster home offer would also be very helpful for him. Boomer is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested negative for Mediterranean diseases, and has an EU pet passport. About Boomer (D)

What life with Boomer (D) looks like

Boomer (D) is a adult podenco dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Boomer (D), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Boomer (D)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Boomer (D) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Boomer (D) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Boomer (D) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Boomer (D) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Boomer (D) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
