Bora

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Bora is just about four months old, but she already weighs 16 kilograms. She will likely grow into a large female, and her appearance is irresistibly reminiscent of a German Shepherd. She arrived at the shelter with her sister Betti, and from day one, it's clear she is special. She is gentle, relaxed, and has a stable personality. She is neither shy nor overly hasty, and she approaches the world calmly, curiously, and with a lot of trust. Like any puppy, she loves to play, explore, and be around people, but what is particularly captivating about Bora is her calmness. She seems to already have the calm nature that she will carry as an adult. We are looking for a home for her that understands that she will grow into a large dog and that will provide her with everything a puppy needs, including training, socialization, patience, and a lot of love. Bora is just at the beginning of her life. We hope she will continue it where it belongs - in her home, with her family, and not behind the fence of the shelter.

HR·Show original

Nije plašljiva ni prenagla, svijet upoznaje mirno, znatiželjno i s puno povjerenja.

About Bora

What life with Bora looks like

Bora is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Azil Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇭🇷Adopting from Croatia

Croatian shelters include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID in the adoption process. Several work with Italian and German rescue networks for placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Azil Dubrovnik handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Azil Dubrovnik will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Azil Dubrovnik early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
