Borja

Male · Adult · 6 years

Borja is about a six-year-old brown male cat who is currently a bit scared of the new situation. He needs time, calmness and a patient caregiver in order to feel safe and get used to the new environment. He doesn't show aggression, rather he withdraws and carefully observes the world around him. Under appropriate conditions, Borja has a chance to gradually open up and build a relationship with a person at his own pace. Borja is a carrier of the FIV virus. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a disease that weakens the immune system, making the cat vulnerable to secondary infections and general weakness. We are looking for a responsible home that is aware of the care required for FIV+ cats. The future caregiver should pay special attention to the care and monitoring of the kitten's health. Due to the positive FIV status, the kitten is suitable as a single cat or as a companion for another FIV+ cat. Before adoption, we recommend getting familiar with the pre-adoption questionnaire and coming to the animal shelter with the completed form: Note: If you decide to adopt a cat or are considering it, be sure to bring a cat transporter or a transport bag to the animal shelter. Before adoption, make sure your home/apartment is safe and properly prepared for welcoming a new family member. Remember to secure the windows and balcony.

Pamiętaj, żeby zabezpieczyć okna i balkon.

About Borja

What life with Borja looks like

Borja is a small adult cat waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: FIV positive - requires special care and monitoring, cannot be housed with FIV-negative cats

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Borja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Borja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Borja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Borja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Borja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Borja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Borja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
