Bowen

Poodle · Male · Young · 3 years

Bowen is looking for a special forever home with his very best friend, Pablo. These two wonderful boys share a beautiful bond and have so much love to give, so they would love nothing more than to begin their next chapter together. They will need a home where they are the only dogs, with no cats or small furries, as these aren't suitable companions for them. Children of primary school age and older would be a good fit. If you have room in your heart and home for a loving pair of best friends, enjoy exploring the great outdoors and are ready to provide cuddles, tennis-ball fun and a lifetime of love, Pablo and Bowen could be the perfect addition to your family. Could you be the ones to give these two special boys the happy ending they deserve? 🐾 Meet Bowen, a lovely 3-year-and-3-month-old boy with a heart full of love to give! ❤️ Bowen enjoys meeting new people and absolutely loves a fuss, cuddles and spending quality time with his favourite humans. He has medium energy levels and enjoys going for walks, exploring the world around him and, of course, chasing his beloved tennis ball! He hasn’t quite mastered all the rules of fetch just yet, but that certainly won’t stop him having fun. Bowen can be worried when visiting the vets and may feel a little unsure when meeting other dogs, so he will need understanding and reassurance in these situations. He can be left for short periods, but this will need to be built up gradually to help him feel comfortable. Bowen would love a family who can offer him plenty of affection, fun and adventures, alongside the patience and support he needs to thrive.

About Bowen

What life with Bowen looks like

Bowen is a small young adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Basildon in Wickford.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bowen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bowen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Basildon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bowen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bowen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Basildon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bowen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bowen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Basildon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bowen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
