Adopt Bowy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Bowy is looking for a new home! Bowy is a very sweet cuddly cat of 1.5 years old. He is very loving when he trusts you and then also very much seeks attention. Currently, Bowy is living with a foster family but unfortunately it doesn't click with the existing cat so we are looking for a new home for Bowy. We expect that Bowy can live well with a young, social cat, or a young kitten for example. Bowy is gentle and can sometimes be easily startled by unexpected sounds/movements. We think that a busy family with young children is not a suitable place for him. A cat companion is a requirement. Would you like more information or want to meet him? Please send us an email so we can forward it to the foster family and they can get in touch. Stichting Dierenopvang Hengelo Zilverstraat 30 7554 NH Hengelo 46 .75.18.812 RSIN:

About Bowy

What life with Bowy looks like

Bowy is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dierenopvang Hengelo in Hengelo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bowy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bowy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvang Hengelo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bowy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bowy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenopvang Hengelo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bowy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bowy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvang Hengelo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bowy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
