Bramble

Shetland Sheepdog · Female · Young · 3 years

Bramble is looking for a calm and predictable home with loving adopters who can take her on sniffy strolls, who will take the time to help her settle in and provide her all the love she deserves. She can be a worried girl who looks to her trusted people for reassurance so could live with older secondary school children who will approach at her pace, who will play with her nicely and will give her space to rest when needed. Bramble gains confidence from other dogs so will need a home with another calm and confident dog who will help her to grow and gain confidence. Once Bramble is settled and happy in her new home she could be encouraged to engage in training in short, sweet sessions as long as a tasty treat is on offer. She would like a home with a private garden to explore and potter about in at her leisure. Bramble settles nicely and can be left for up to 4 hours, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once she has had time to settle into her new home. Bramble will need to meet her adopters multiple times prior to going home with potential home visits to make sure she is settling in well so please bear this in mind when applying. Super sweet girl Bramble is a 3 and a half year old Shetland Sheepdog cross with the cutest face and waggiest tail. She hasn’t really figured out what to do with toys yet, she circles and paws at them but would much rather play with her favourite canine pals, bouncing and following them around like a little shadow. She takes some time to warm up to new people and is a little avoidant of touch, once she starts to build a bond she will get all wiggly and excited when she sees you and will put her paws on you to say ‘Hello’. This gentle little angel is looking for a lovely new family.

About Bramble

What life with Bramble looks like

Bramble is a young adult shetland sheepdog dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bramble, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bramble?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bramble on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bramble if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bramble already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bramble isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bramble and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
