Corfu

Female · Adult · 4 years

Corfu is waiting for her people at our partner animal shelter, Alltabarat, in Hungary. Today, Corfu is ready for the next step—she can finally begin her search for a forever home. For some time, she was worked with at the shelter, as Corfu had been considered aggressively territorial for many months. Yet over time, she has made an impressive transformation. Corfu is a friendly dog who initially approaches unfamiliar people with caution and reserve. She’s not one of those dogs that immediately rush toward you and demand petting. Instead, she wants to get to know her people first and build trust. Once she’s gained your trust, she’s perfectly comfortable being touched and stroked. She’s also a dog with a normal energy level. She enjoys moving around and would love long walks and shared activities—but she doesn’t need hours-long activity programs or constant high-energy stimulation. A balanced dog life filled with shared experiences is entirely sufficient for her. We’re aware that after moving to a new environment, Corfu might initially take small steps backward. This is completely normal and something her future family should be prepared for. She needs people who give her time without pitying her—people who show understanding toward Corfu but combine that understanding with a calm, clear, and confident leadership style. Corfu gets along well with other dogs. She was especially bonded and closely oriented toward her former kennel mate Jasko. Jasko has now found his own home (as of July 19, 2026), and we now hope that Corfu can take this same step. That’s why we’re placing Corfu exclusively as a second dog alongside a confident first dog whom she can look up to. This will make it much easier for her to start her new life. We’re looking for a quiet home for Corfu, one without small children—preferably located on the outskirts of town or in a rural setting. We’re seeking calm, relaxed people who don’t expect perfection from the start and don’t demand too much from her right away. Corfu has already shown just how much potential she has for growth. Now all she needs are people who’ll give her the chance to put everything she’s learned into practice in her very own home.RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_f1bcabd5"); RegularLabs.EmailProtector.unCloak("ep_d0050009");

About Corfu

What life with Corfu looks like

Corfu is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. in Marsberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Corfu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Corfu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Corfu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Corfu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Corfu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Corfu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Sauerland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Corfu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
