‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME. Please help Brantis by sharing this page! Dear little Brantis is a 13-year-old Yorkshire Terrier in the care of Safe Rescue . He's in a foster home in Norwich, Norfolk, after his former owners became too unwell to look after him. He can live with cats and a calm dog or two but needs an adult-only home as he's partially sighted and hard of hearing. We think you'll agree, this only adds to his "aww" factor. Brantis is a very affectionate boy and loves plenty of lap time. His reduced vision, due to cataracts, doesn't stop him living life to the full and he enjoys pottering around the garden and going on walkies. He's good with other dogs as he's a naturally friendly and laid-back boy. If startled by being touched without warning, he has been known to give a warning snap. On the whole though, he's so laid-back, he's often horizontal. He does, of course, require a bit more consideration and TLC so he needs experienced and kind owners. He also needs regular grooming for his splendid golden coat. Otherwise, it's a periodic crew cut which makes him look a tiny scrap of a thing, bless him! Please note – Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full details of their rehoming policy are on Brantis' Facebook post here. If you can give Brantis the care and cuddles he seeks, please contact Safe Rescue below: Tel/Message: or between 9am-5pm Mon-Fri and 9am-4pm Sat Email: Please say you saw Brantis featured as Old Dog of the Week on the Oldies Club website.

About Brantis

What life with Brantis looks like

Brantis is a very small senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brantis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brantis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brantis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brantis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brantis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brantis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brantis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
