BRIAN

Male · Young · 1 year

Estimated birth date: January 2025 Brief info: friendly, people-oriented, cuddly, playful, initially shy and uncertain, family+, older children/youths+, male dogs+, female dogs+, cats+ In early May 2026, a woman brought the male dog BRIAN to the animal shelter in her car. He sat very calmly in the footwell, as if it were his first time. However, the woman claimed to have found him at the train station. Whether this is true or if she simply brought her own dog to the shelter, no one can verify, as BRIAN did not have a chip. Notably, he did not appear very afraid when on his owner's arm, but was very unsettled when around strangers. We suspect that more and more people are giving up their dogs due to the strained economic situation… But whatever the truth may be, not wanting to have a dog like BRIAN anymore is completely unfathomable, as he is an extremely lovable, friendly, and people-oriented furball. He is opening up more every day. Although he is still shy, he loves cuddles and is generally uncomplicated. He still needs to get used to harnesses and leashes, as they are still very scary to him at the moment. He gets along well with his fellow animals and already shows playfulness. The test cat, however, was very scary to him, as well as the overall situation in the container. With time and patience, he could also be accustomed to living with cattery cats. For the lovely BRIAN, we are looking for a home with calm and loving people with dog experience who can give him the time he needs to get used to everything new. Then he will surely also look forward to beautiful walks and exciting excursions as well as cozy cuddle sessions. Of course, the young pup still needs to be taught all the important things of a dog's daily life, but with the right support, he will surely learn everything quickly. BRIAN will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and with an EU pet passport in his new home. Would you like to give this wonderful puppy a great home? We look forward to your message!

About BRIAN

What life with BRIAN looks like

BRIAN is a small young adult dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting BRIAN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BRIAN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BRIAN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BRIAN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BRIAN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BRIAN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know BRIAN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
