Adopt Brida

Podenco · Female · Young · 1 year

Podencomix female dog 03.02.2025 58 cm Brida originally came from Spain and was taken in by the shelter Esperanza in Würenlos in March 2026. However, it quickly became clear that she is far too young for the senior round at the shelter. Therefore, we have decided to take Brida into our shelter to better integrate and challenge her. This gives her the chance for appropriate mental stimulation and a better chance at being adopted. Brida, the Sensitive. Brida hasn't seen much of the world yet. Exploring and processing stimuli are currently at the top of her list. She does this very well, and one can see the progress she has made in a short time. A walk is very exciting for her: there's something new here, and there's something to discover, and she can't decide which to explore. A calm and safe lead is important for her so she can structure herself and adapt to new situations with as little fuss as possible. Character and Nature—Temperament: clever, playful, active—Trust in humans: Initially she is more skeptical but warms up quickly.—Approachability, contact: searching. Once something more exciting for Brida appears, the human is no longer so interesting.—Social behavior towards dogs: She is social, but during play, she is a little whirlwind. Sometimes she needs to be held back.—Social behavior towards cats: not tested Behavior and Everyday Competence—Uncertainties: With too many new stimuli at once, such as with hectic people. —Adaptability to new situations: She needs a little time but then does it well.—Exploratory behavior: She is curious but also cautious. Activity Level—Exercise drive: very high, she needs a lot of movement and mental stimulation.—Leash training: still needs practice.—Learning readiness: moderate—Prey drive: present We wish for Brida active people who will attend the dog training classes with her, challenge her mentally and physically to Podenco level, and also offer her the necessary calm that is important for her healthy development. Brida is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, and tested for Mediterranean diseases. Interested?

About Brida

What life with Brida looks like

Brida is a large young adult podenco dog waiting at New Graceland - Auffangstation Schweiz in Waltenschwil.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brida, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brida?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. New Graceland - Auffangstation Schweiz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brida on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brida if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — New Graceland - Auffangstation Schweiz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brida already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brida isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with New Graceland - Auffangstation Schweiz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brida and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
