Bridgette

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

? Bridgette – D2026-01 ? 5 Year Old Bichon Frise Little Bridgette is looking for a very patient and understanding home that will help her continue learning to trust the world around her. Bridgette is naturally a very wary and sensitive girl , and she can react by lunging or trying to nip if she feels frightened or pressured – particularly with things like having her collar, lead or harness put on, or when grooming around her face. Because of this, she needs calm, confident owners who will take things slowly and allow her to progress at her own pace . The lovely news is that once Bridgette feels safe, her sweet personality really shines through . She enjoys gentle fuss, tummy rubs and being picked up by someone she trusts, and she has a playful side too – she loves when you pretend to chase her and will happily play along from the sofa or floor. Bridgette has made lovely progress in foster over the last few weeks and is already starting to relax more in her surroundings. She takes a lot of comfort from other dogs and relies heavily on her resident dog friend for reassurance , so she must live with a calm, confident resident dog who can help guide her. She is good with other dogs and cats , and can live with older, dog-savvy children who understand that she will need space and patience. Bridgette has begun venturing out to a secure field (travelling in a pushchair) where she enjoys gently exploring with her doggy friend and politely greeting other dogs. She isn’t ready for busy street walks yet, but she is slowly building confidence. ? About Bridgette: • Needs a calm, patient home • Must live with a resident dog • Can live with older dog-savvy children • Good with dogs and cats • Partially housetrained – still a work in progress • May bark or become unsettled when left alone • Enjoys gentle affection and play once she feels safe Bridgette eats well but is still nervous about taking food directly from your hand – she prefers treats to be tossed nearby for her to collec

About Bridgette

What life with Bridgette looks like

Bridgette is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Friends of Animals Wales in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bridgette, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bridgette?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Friends of Animals Wales handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bridgette on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bridgette if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Friends of Animals Wales will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bridgette already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bridgette isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Friends of Animals Wales early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bridgette and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
