Adopt Maak kennis met Brink

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 1 year

Oh, hello I'm Brink! May I sniff your hand? Beyond that I still find it a bit exciting, but I want to learn that I can just trust people. I was found on the street with a large abscess on my paw. I don't really know how I came to be there anymore, but the past is the past, right? I have fully recovered by now, and am becoming braver every day. I'm looking for an owner with patience, who understands that I don't want to be touched immediately. I am very curious, so with the right guidance I think I would dare to do that one day! Also, I would really like to be able to go outside and do my own thing from time to time, but at first I of course have to get used to being inside, which is actually quite a challenge. I can escape really well, you know ;) I'm still young, and I want to go on adventures! Do you have a spot for me?

About Maak kennis met Brink

What life with Maak kennis met Brink looks like

Maak kennis met Brink is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam in Amsterdam.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maak kennis met Brink, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maak kennis met Brink?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maak kennis met Brink on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maak kennis met Brink if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maak kennis met Brink already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maak kennis met Brink isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOA Dierenasiel Amsterdam early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maak kennis met Brink and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
