BROWNI

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Estimated birth date: March 2018 Short info: friendly, affectionate, initially a bit shy, curious, family+, teenagers+, male dogs+, female dogs+, cats+ The two siblings Browni and Blacky, born in March 2018, were brought to Kata's shelter in mid-March 2026. A man arrived with a van, in which the two dogs were tied up. The man reported that his father had died two years ago and that the dogs belonged to him. He further explained that the two dogs had been kept together in a kennel, with the spayed Browni being free in the kennel, while the unspayed Blacky was tethered in the same kennel. The son had been taking care of the dogs for two years, meaning feeding them, but now he no longer wanted them and wanted to get rid of them, which for the two dogs is actually a blessing. We met Browni personally in April 2026. She was initially a bit shy, but once she gained confidence, she proved to be a friendly, affectionate, and simply lovable dog lady. It is surprising how "normal" she has remained despite her past, without much human interaction, let alone environmental stimuli or other influences. Notably, she thrives when she reunites with Blacky. However, the two will certainly be placed separately. Browni would likely have no objections to a first dog, because she gets along well with other dogs besides Blacky. Also, when meeting the test cat, she showed herself to be friendly and reserved, although the overall situation seemed a bit unsettling to her. With time and patience, it is possible to get her used to living with house cats. The charming Browni would fit into any household with dog experience. She really wants to experience what it is like to be loved and cared for, and to lead a normal, appropriate dog life. Maybe someone will discover this lovely dog and give her a future. Browni is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and comes with an EU pet passport to her new home. Would you like to give Browni a happy life? Then we look forward to your message! You can best use the self-assessment form here (or alternatively the contact form).

About BROWNI

What life with BROWNI looks like

BROWNI is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenretter Ungarn in Pfotenretter.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting BROWNI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BROWNI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenretter Ungarn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BROWNI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BROWNI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenretter Ungarn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BROWNI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BROWNI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenretter Ungarn early rather than rehoming privately; they know BROWNI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
