adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Brownie has found her home! Her story: Poor Brownie what did you have to endure? The pretty female dog was rescued by us near Zalau and was once left there with no real food sources to sustain herself. Out of necessity, she resorted to eating the chickens of the residents. The residents were so angry that they wanted to kill Brownie. Fortunately, we were able to save her from this fate. Now, the approximately 3.5-year-old, about 52 cm tall, and 20 kg heavy female dog lives in a foster home in Romania and hopes to leave this terrible time behind soon. With her curly hair, she reminds one of a oversized Rough Hair Dachshund. Due to her rather negative experiences with humans, she is initially a bit reserved, but then warms up and becomes a balanced and friendly female dog. This generally applies to new situations as well. She always needs a moment to acclimate. She already runs well on a leash, but of course, further training should be done in her new home. Brownie gets along well with her fellow animals. So, if there is already a dog present, this would not be a problem for her. Brownie wishes for a home where she can settle in at her own pace and where her understanding and support are shown. After the adjustment period, she would also appreciate attending dog training classes that work with positive reinforcement. The pretty female dog with the particularly colored eyes would also be happy about a foster placement. Brownie travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, with a positive Naturally, she also brings her EU pet passport. For an adoption fee of 500 Euros, she can move in. Many thanks to Claudia and Jörg B., who gave Brownie her sweet name. Who will show Brownie how beautiful life is and ensure she never goes hungry again? Stand: 16.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Brownie hat ihr Zuhause gefunden! Ihre Geschichte: Arme Brownie was musstest du erleiden? Stand: 16.02.2025

About Brownie

What life with Brownie looks like

Brownie is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brownie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brownie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brownie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brownie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brownie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brownie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brownie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
