adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Brownie has found his luck! His story: Listen up, here comes Brownie! The name “Brownie” fits the little male dog with the fox-red fur like a glove on a hand. But not only does his fur color fit his name well. When thinking of the name Brownie, one thinks of a sweet dessert. Brownie is the epitome of “cute” with his long back, short legs, and large, dark eyes! Unfortunately, Brownie had to leave his family in Romania when his owner passed away. His previous owner’s daughter then brought him to the public shelter in Bistrita because she could no longer take care of him. For the loyal and clingy Brownie, the surrender to the shelter was a great burden, and he suffers extremely under the conditions. We hope very much that Brownie will find a new and, above all, loving home soon, in which he can start anew and spend the rest of his life. Brownie reacts very well to human contact. He shows himself to be very people-oriented, open, and curious. He also gets along absolutely with the other animals on site. When we let him into the run, he was very happy and looked at everything. But unfortunately, he only comes out very rarely. Such excursions are rare for the dogs. Brownie is about 40 cm tall and weighs around 13-15 kg. With this size, he counts as a small dog. Brownie could be a dachshund or beagle mix. A prey drive cannot be ruled out. Brownie has already had quite a bit of experience and has gone through puberty at around 4 years old. But the dog 1*1 must be something he still needs to learn. He is looking forward to attending dog training classes and many great shared adventures. Brownie is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings an EU pet passport with him and can be fostered by a home for the sweet boy. Brownie would be very happy about a foster home! Who will give the sweet Brownie a loving forever home that he so deserves? Many thanks to Marcel! You gave Brownie his name! Date: 18.05.

Vielen Dank an Marcel! Du hast Brownie seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 18.05.2025

About Brownie

What life with Brownie looks like

Brownie is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brownie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brownie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brownie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brownie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brownie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brownie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brownie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
