Bruder Tuk

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Bruder Tuck has been waiting for his chance since 2022 – far too long. He is one of our long-term residents and is now among the oldest dogs still stuck waiting in the shelter. And he of all dogs deserves so much to finally arrive somewhere. Tuck is a big, strong German Shepherd mix with a good, honest nature. He is friendly, but needs a little time to build trust and does not want to be touched by strangers right away. If you give him that time, he shows his calm, loyal and very reliable side. Life in the shelter is becoming increasingly hard for him. Every additional day there is one too many. He should be allowed to travel out as soon as possible, before the years in the kennel break him for good. That is why we are urgently looking for an experienced foster home or – even better – a permanent family who leads with confidence, brings understanding, and shows him that he, too, deserves a home at last. Bruder Tuck has waited so long. Please help us ensure that he does not have to wait any longer in Romania. The hot summers and the extremely cold winters are a danger for the older dogs. Bruder Tuk will be vaccinated, chipped and neutered after a positive pre-adoption check, and placed through the animal welfare organization Vierbeiner in Not e. V. General note about our dogs: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in giving the best possible picture of each individual dog. Nevertheless, we would like to point out that a dog can also show a different side in a new environment – with new people, new routines and new impressions. This is completely normal and part of any process of change. Many dogs even open up faster in a home and show sides that were not visible at all in the shelter. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but are not a guarantee of any particular behavior in the new surroundings. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents himself in the shelter – and what potential lies within him. We are convinced: with patience, understanding and a loving environment, every dog can find his way and continue to develop positively.

About Bruder Tuk

What life with Bruder Tuk looks like

Bruder Tuk is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruder Tuk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruder Tuk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruder Tuk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruder Tuk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bruder Tuk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruder Tuk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruder Tuk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
