Adopt Coco

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Coco is five months old (as of 06/2021), has adorable floppy ears, huge paws, and is 50 cm tall - and now you finally realize that our squeaky new addition is definitely not a Chihuahua puppy. Cocos family seems to have just realized this now, because after the fluffy ball of fur turned into a very funny, but also heavy bulldozer who strolls through his world with the elegance of a demolition derby, Cocos owners have discovered that the really cute little blob is not a dog that can be left alone in the apartment for hours after just a 5-minute walk ... and so our entertainer ended up at the animal shelter. Honestly, Coco seems hardly impressed that his family has separated from him. He finds it quite exciting to play with his new four-legged friends and equally likes the volunteers at ArcoNatura. For the curious and eager-to-learn herding dog mix, apparently everything is better than eating the sofa at home or stealing shoes to then only be scolded for his wonderful improvement attempts. A young dog can only guess what is allowed and what is not, and Coco is finally looking for a family that can explain it properly - so he can soon start his career as a model for the brand Soft Giant. Small herding dogs are the cutest, sweetest, sleepiest, hungriest, and most knotted things you can imagine, and so it's no surprise (and I certainly am not surprised, since I have such a big blob in XXL size and fully grown as my own) that every animal welfare worker in Linares has completely fallen in love with the heartbreaker. Coco is quite typical of his breed, relaxed, but also likes to play, he is deeply relaxed and considers himself a lap dog (which is actually innate in the soft giants and cannot really be retrained - well, no one wants to anyway). The now five-month-old charmer gets along very well with other dogs, as mentioned before, and people are welcome friends and always worth a massage. Now Coco needs a home where he can grow another 20 cm, where he is loved and allows himself to be loved (and our HSH hearts can do that better than anyone else). Anyone considering the acquisition of a Mastin mix should really be clear that a power pack is moving in. Children should either be thick-skinned and humorous or already have a certain stability. Dog bed and couch can be adjusted more easily than, for example, the car, and a garden is a playground for a clumsy teddy in growth - Japanese meditation gardens and English grass are potentially at risk of being damaged. However, the lively young man damages with maximum fun, devoted love, and willingness to learn many things that will make a happy coexistence perfect.

About Coco

What life with Coco looks like

Coco is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
